About Me

I am a photographer living in the North East of England.  I was born in 1969 with a spinal condition which meant I was unable to walk at all, and this also brought with it complexities, and ongoing medical issues which has to led to various stays in hospitals over the years, and continuous ongoing check ups.

I attended a mainstream school for primary and secondary education, which stood me in good stead for my unravelling life ahead.  I left school at 16, I passed my driving test, bought my first car and attended a local college, completing a Business and Finance course. At 17 I started my working life as a civil servant and continue to do so now.

At 43 I got married. Up until I was in my mid 40’s I used a manual wheelchair, however after quite a serious illness in 2015 and a 3 month hospital admission, I now use a power chair, I still drive, albeit a lovely VW Transporter Shuttle, with tail lift and converted so I can drive from the chair, but as you can hopefully gather by reading this bio, I try to lead a fairly normal life with the physical condition and the restraints that brings.

I enjoy the challenges of photography, and every day is still a ‘school day’.  I can’t obviously get to every location that I would like,  but I try to shoot where and when I can.

My life motto’s,  ‘Nil illegitimi Carborundum’ & ‘Life is like a box of chocolates, you don’t know which one you’re going to get’
